Tournaments Update: Connection Quality Indicators

Rocket League is, among other things, about connecting players all over the world in friendly online competition. Our servers -- 57,000 and counting spread across ten unique server regions -- and how you connect to them are some of the most important aspects of our game’s ecosystem. We’re constantly working with our server providers to offer you the best online play experience possible.

As part of the upcoming Tournaments Update, we’re rolling out a new set of client-side connection quality indicators that will tell you what kind of connection issues you’re currently experiencing mid-match. That means that there will no longer be a single 'Red Triangle of Death' on the right side of your screen to cover all of the bases. You’ll also see a ‘!’ pop up next to your ping on the Scoreboard if one or more of these indicators are active while you’re playing. If the connection issue persists, you'll also get a pop-up in the Main Menu confirming the connection issue type.

The four indicators are:
  • Server Health: When the server itself is experiencing issues, like eating up too much memory
  • Packet Loss: Data being transferred between you and the server is lost
  • Latency Variance: When your ping isn’t holding steady, typically fluctuating 40ms-60ms
  • High Latency: Commonly known as “lag,” usually indicated by a high ping to the server

By splitting up connection issues into these four types, you’ll be able to address whatever issue you’re running into more quickly and with more information on hand. You’ll also be able to take this directly to our Customer Care team, who can potentially help you troubleshoot issues even faster.

Psyonix is about it be shocked at how shitty their servers are. Oh well, at least we can finally get some fixes on servers now.

Inb4 the main type of problem is the 1st categorization :lol: .

Anyhoo, nice to see all these new indicators, you sure did spend some time on this, but why not also add real-time telemetry (server IP, PNG, RTT, IND, packet loss numbers, etc.) for those to select that want to more accurately troubleshoot?

Cuz there is one m8 how's calling "lag" everytime he missed. xD

I hope your server hosts get automatically notified when multiple clients have "Server Health" warnings.

Now I have to agree with Tent about the shitty servers.

WTF did you do? You bring out these new indicators and now all of the sudden the servers are so bad I can hardly play.

I have been DC from 3 diff servers in a row(thank god it didn't ban me for it) but do you think the server health came up at all? NOPE!

And I know I didn't just DC from my end...the people I was playing with(randoms) ended up in the next one I found right away both times so we all DC.

I am glad it didn't ban me when the game said the match was concluded. So I guess you finally figured out how to tell the difference. +1 for that
-20 for the shitty server this past week or so

The lag on servers didn't affect me much yesterday, but I saw quite a few complaints about it. I felt kinda like Neo weaving in and out of people's attempts to play the game. I have evolved beyond the network. 8-) It seemed pretty bad though, hope it gets resolved with the hotfix and future updates.

In the begining nobody knew how to drive
After a while ppl figured out how to fly,
now ppl is starting to teleport
Its the new Meta, :mrgreen:

99999999x Server health and packet loss in the rocket league servers with 50k and 18-36 ping my mate 200k 8-28 ping the same yay

Best possible Servers ? I think nobody created powerfull servers yet, we should remove all items and looking to the connection often are the updates the problems, thats the reason why a game shouldnt get content or fixes ..

nice one ranked 3x the noob in my team then next game a afk mate 1:0 then later 3:0 lost bcs is hes more shit then the noob in the oppononent team i like this game so much it makessssssss so notttttttt fun remove solo3s then + all items + new features useless features who need this the game was good on the release date omg

+ losing connection u get a lose + some minets ban

double post ftw cant dodge often bcs this laggs ruins game asf get loses asf + 75689374934934 multi accs that cant beat a champ in 1vs1 they win just 3 : 2 but they are gc on the main acc what is this ? how bad are players that cant play in the gc section lol ?

Hey Tentacles,

In response to your Reddit thread, we have multiple server providers and they do not act as overflow for Vultr.

Having looked at your history, Vultr does not account for the majority of your matches and is actually the one you player on the least.

Please DM me server names and issues that you're dealing with so we can test them and then I can work with our providers to help mitigate these issues.
