Entry is still open for anyone who has only just found out about Bionix.

You can organize your games by either messaging myself or my helpers (Diabolo_84, Shogun-Cal, Coolcole93, Mye_Bipod_4shor) for a game. Or asking to be invited (if you arent already) to the "Bionix 1 Qualifying Match Arranging" Chat. The idea is that whenever myself or a helper is online, no matter what game we are playing we automatically join that chat. Bare in mind YOU have to ask US whether we can play your match with you, not the other way round as its a test of how you organize yourself.

Welcome to the first season of Bionix, the Bi-annual Psyonix-sponsored 1v1 tournament!

Bionix is all about top-end vanilla SARPBC matches.
What I'm aiming to do with this tournament is make it "The" one to be in. Professionally run, entertaining for all and famous enough for people to REALLY want to aspire be in "The Byte".

The way the tournament plays out means that the minor leagues all finish before the elite league (The Byte) even starts. That way everyone can closely monitor and keep track of the best players in SARPBC as they do battle.
However, just getting into The Byte is an achievement in itself, that means that you are among 8 of the best SARPBC players in the world. If someone can say come Bionix 8 that they have been in The Byte for 5 seasons, people will fear and respect them.

North Americans who have bought the EU version are welcome, as long as they can maintain an orange signal for other players on their host.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Rules/How to Enter

Qualifying
Step 1: PM me or post in this thread that you want to take part
Step 2: Over 2 weeks, get your 1v1 rating as high as possible
Step 3: Organize and play one 5-min game against myself or one of my helpers (so far Diabolo_84 and Coolcole93)

- This way everyone that enters the tournament will have at least some experiance of organizing games for themselves
- Also, if two players are close to the boundary of getting in or out, I'll talk to the person you played your game against and find out how co-operative you were, and maybe if you were unlucky to kick-off goals/lag etc, then you would be favoured over the other person on the boundary.
(If a player is a massive pain in the ass with organizing the game then obviously people who are close on rating to them could take their spots)
- If I know you to be decent at getting games organized already (from past tournaments) then I might let you in anyway, but try to play this game either way.

For the first season there is a maximum of 40 players, but this will likely expand to 88 next season depending on how smoothly this one runs.
So as many people can enter as they want, fighting for the 36 places up for grabs in qualification. 4 Places are reserved for the current feared famous/skillful players. If they dont want in then I will invite someone else I consider elite to take their place. These 4 players are all automatically in The Byte:
    KissMyTinyAss
    Mephistofes
    SfexChampion
    Ryan_097
There are still 4 places up for grabs in The Byte. The 1v1 rating method is as good as any for getting the best of the best into the The Byte.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Structure
Theres an elite league of 8 called The Byte, which is the promised land for everyone within this tournament. Only the top 3 remain for next season, 5 get relegated down to the 4 leagues.
Also, only the 1st place from the leagues gets promoted, (the 4 players in 2nd place go into play-offs for the 5th spot in The Byte)
The bottom 3 in each league get relegated, and have to qualify again next time around to get back into the leagues.
Come the second season of qualification in Bionix, there will no longer be 36 places, there will only be 12, as the rest of the slots are full of the people who got promoted/relegated/stayed in one league from last season.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Match Specific Rules
Player A hosts their choice of map
Player B hosts their choice of map
2 wins, wins the match.
If its 1-1 then you play an extra game of random map (common sense who hosts/whoever has most goals if common-sense is N/A, europeans get preference)
You get 3 points for a straight win
2 points for a win with the extra game
1 point for a loss with the extra game
0 points for a straight loss

You may have noticed that you have choice of the map you host. This is a good thing! Dont just choose Urban, try and mess your opponent up by developing a strategy on one of the lesser maps.
Maybe you know that the player you're up against is particularly attacking, likes to score a lot of goals etc. Well how about playing a counter-attack strategy on Stadium where it takes longer to get back to goal? There are endless strategies and tactics you can use, and particularly good ones might even be showcased and respected in their own right.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Rewards
The Winner of Bionix gets:
-6 months of Gold name on the forums
-A special avatar on the forums with the number of seasons they've survived in The Byte on it,
-The honour of being the best player in the best tournament of SARPBC,
-The chance to play a Psyonix developer in the showpiece tournament kickstarter next season.
    -and...A mystery prize!

The top 3 players all get:
-The special avatar with the number of seasons they've survived in The Byte on it,
-The respect of being in the top 3 SARPBC players in the world,
-Being in The Byte again next season.

The 5 league promotees get:
-Gold names until the tournament has finished (They play their games before the byte),
    -Respect
-And promotion into The Byte obviously.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Timing
Qualifiers: Weeks 1 & 2
Leagues: Weeks 4 & 5
The Byte: Weeks 6 & 7

This way the qualifiers are happening whilst all the hype is gathering for the coming season. Then the people who qualified are inserted into the leagues.
The Byte play their games after the leagues so that everyone can watch and focus on the elite 8 players, 'celebrities' if you will, play their games.[/color]

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Some common-sense rules that always seem to go over players heads for some reason.
DO NOT: Enter this if you are going on holiday in the next 2 months
DO NOT: Expect everyone to organize your games for you
DO: Be polite and friendly when you are organizing your games, spamming someone with messages along the lines of "ffs ply me naow" is likely to get you kicked.
DO: Add every player in your league to your friends list. This is Mandatory, not doing so will get you kicked. If you dont have space then delete some other people, you only need 7 spaces for 2 weeks, I'm sure the friends you are deleting will understand.

Well, I think thats all for now, I've obviously missed some things so feel free to ask questions and I'll post the answers back here in the OP as I answer them.

Mye_bipod_4shor vs Oneill_clan

we played tourney rules. both green cnx ,we came to the conclusion that there was abit of lag at the kickoffs and 50-50s and there was 1 aerial 50-50 when in his screen he hit it 1st but it went in my direction. apart from that it was a good game.

Results:

My host: urban. 6-5 OT to Oneill_clan

His host: Galleon. 4-0 to Mye_bipod_4shor

oh we didnt play the final game lol.. mb

You only needed to play 1 game anyway (In this qualifying round), its just to make sure the non-helper doesnt have a terrible cnx, and can organize their game themselves.

SHOGUN-CAL 3 vs 2 Adam-Alli
He held a strong green connection (No lag in the game). The match was more of a slow battle of wit. We both tried to make the other make mistakes. None of my long shots scored so a definatly worthy of a tourny place.

Me and M1ke played. The game froze midway through overtime (:?) but that's never happened before against him and it was a good close game - on a non Urban map no less :D We were gonna do a next goal wins on the same map, but neither of us could connect to each-other. So I guess one of our connections spazzed. But no biggie, all was fine other than that weirdness :)
