ive become a huge film addict,

watched about 100 films over the christmas holidays,

set myself the challenge of watching the best 250 films ever made.
http://www.imdb.com/chart/top
(its pretty much the official leaderboards for films. and its very reliable.. its not far off from near perfect results.)

been watching some classic films, (some films i never thought id want to watch) like 'The Good The Bad and The ugly', '12 Angry Men' and looking forward to watching 'Citizen Kane' and 'Seven Samurai'

im a huge fan of quentin tarantino, christopher nolan, stanley kubrick, david fincher and danny boyle. have way more names to mention but ive watched all of these guys' works.

i want you to give me your faveourite films, or any films you think i should watch. im open to anything and all films. preferably artistic, intelligent films. remember that films are an art, commercialism isnt a bad thing, its just i dont want anyone telling me to watch the expendables.

I guess you've already seen Dr. Strangelove, 2001 and Full Metal Jacket. All some of the greatest films ever. I'm not big on films, actually, though a few I think are good, are:
A.I.
The Back to the Future films
Wayne's World
The Blues Brothers
Die Hard 4.0, simply because it's so over-the-top. Mindless entertainment.
Sunshine. It's been a loooong while since I've seen this one, but I've been wanting to see it again, as I remember it being quite interesting.
Tropic Thunder's also a lot of fun, if you haven't already seen it.
Head of State. It's stupid but funny.
I thought The Book of Eli was pretty good too.
Green Street Hooligans
If you know a little about Star Trek, then The Wrath of Khan might be worth watching.
The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. You've probably already seen this, but if not, then watch it!
This one is kinda pointless, but either way, I enjoyed Love. Mostly because of the atmosphere in it. It's very different.
Interstella 5555, because Daft Punk
Rubber, because Mr. Oizo
Also, courtesy of Hushed-Massacre: Redline.
And for some anime weirdness, there's the Evangelion movies (3 out of 4 have been released so far). It's been a while since I watched them (the first two), but they're supposedly good, if you can wrap your mind around them. They're basically remakes of the original NGE series from the 90'ies, but with a slightly different story. Also, because Japan and because Alpine A310 (and later a Mazda Cosmo Sport).

I'm sure there's more I've forgotten, but yeah. This'll do for now.

i'll be honest i havent seen full metal jacket, even though its one of stanley kubricks best films, and i havent seen dr strangelove, they're both defo waiting to be watched though!!

the only films ive seen from that list are the back to the future films, green street, hitch hikers guide and interstella. ill be adding the rest to my watch list thanks for the imdb link

i heard 'the wire' and 'dexter' are amazing and apparently im missing out on great cinema for not watching them just because they're not films.

yeah and i heard death note was good, its just i disregarded it cause it was anime, my friend used to be obsessed with this show called bleach, but i used to think it was a load of crap,

ill defo have to watch IP man soon then, since your the second person to recommend it, and its good that you're choosing films that are on the top 250 :D it makes my quest a bit easier, but my love for films isnt all about the top 250, so if you've got any that arent on the the top 250, but are your faves.. please tell me

and i dont have netflix Ny

Yes the IMDB top 250 has pretty much all the gems in it

Here's my recommendations (I could post dozens of great films, but gonna only post some that come to my mind right now. Not necessarily my top 6, but great movies nontheless):

Snatch.
Blow
The Departed
Limitless
Memento
Intouchables

(this last one is the most recent great movie i have seen. The kind of a movie that leaves a wide smile on your face :D )

Withnail & I
Changing Lanes
Birthday Girl
High Fidelity
Vanilla Sky

...oh, and you can skip right past "The Godfather". Here's why:

If you haven't already seen Django: Unchained you should watch it tonight.

Watch One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. It's on netflix. Jack Nicholson is incredible.

How familiar are you with Woody Allen's movies? How about Wes Anderson?
