Popularity and Reviews (U.S.) ~ End of first week stats

Postby TheGreatGambit on Thu Nov 01, 2012 7:39 am

*Game Center totals only include the number of players who have played ARC Squadron while logged into Game Center, and do not represent total sales.*

End of first week
:

With the price now fixed at $0.99, ARCS shot up over 200 hundred positions to #43 in paid apps at the end of the week.

Other chart part positions at the end of the week:

#27 in Games
#11 in Action Games
#9 in Arcade Games

Total players on Game Center: over 16,500

App Store rating: 4.5 out of 5 based on 234 reviews (194 five star reviews)

Day Four

Total players on Game Center: over 11,400 (+1,500)

Chart positions:

#210 in Paid Apps
#117 in Games
#51 in Action Games
#40 in Arcade Games

App Store rating: 4.5 out of 5 based on 196 reviews (162 5 star reviews)

Day Three

Total players on Game Center: over 9900 (+1,900)

Chart positions:

#135 in Paid Apps
#79 in Games
#33 in Action Games
#28 in Arcade Games

App Store rating: 4.5 out of 5 based on 183 reviews (151 5 star reviews)

Day Two

At the end of the second day, the number of ARCS players on Game Center is over 8,000, an additional 2,500 players from yesterday. Although total sales have gone down due to the end of the launch day sale (and hype), ARCS grossed about 2 or 3 times as much money today as it did on the first day.

Chart positions:

#52 in Paid Apps
#40 in Games
#18 in Action Games
#12 in Arcade Games

App Store rating: 4.5 out of 5 based on 146 reviews (127 5 star reviews)

devomorph video review (5 out of 5):

Day One

Over 5,500 players with Game Center accounts have purchased and played the full version of the game. That number doesn't include those who purchased the game but don't have a GC account (or haven't played the game yet), so total sales could very easily be over 6 or 7 thousand.

In the evening, the game was added to the "New and Noteworthy" section of the App Store's front page, indicating strong early sales.

Chart position at the end of first day:

#16 in Paid Apps
#12 in Games
#7 in Action Games
#5 in Arcade Games (it actually peaked at #4, but the release of Wreck-It Ralf knocked it down a position)

The game has an overall rating of 5 stars in the app store based on 94 reviews (Note that reviews take several hours to update, so there's probably a lot more than that). 86 of the reviews give the game 5 stars.

These are all the professional reviews that have been published so far:

App Spy - 4 out of 5 - "ARC Squadron is a solid shoot'em-up in the vein of greats like Star Fox"
Touch Arcade - "A Gorgeous, Starfox-inspired Space Shooter"
148Apps - 4.5 out of 5 - Editor's Choice - "iOS finally has a space shooter that can rival the classic consoles of old."
Modojo - 4 out of 5 - "ARC Squadron satisfies with a combination of gorgeous imagery and intense, arcade-style gameplay."
iMore - "Arc Squadron has excellent graphics, smooth controls, tight, twitch-based challenges, and heaps of compelling upgrades."

While I haven't been able to play this on my 4th gen iPod, I left it a little review that incorporated all the words of SARPBC.

It doesn't, but Apple doesn't give us any controls to pick the devices we want to block, so we have to block devices using hardware features. In this case, the front facing camera blocks a couple of the slower low-ram devices (iPad 1, iPhone 3GS, iPod touch 3rd gen). It was similar to how we were planning on blocking the iPod touch 4 with the digital compass, but Apple ended up pulling the rug from under us on that one and we ended up having to scramble to get the patch out for the iTouch 5 and still pass certification having it running on the iTouch 4.

Well I'm glad you guys patched the 4th gen in, I've enjoyed the game on mine.
