Sarpbc breaking controllers

Postby sfex3best on Tue Feb 14, 2012 11:02 am

Hey guys I thought id post about a slight issue I'm getting with sarpbc and the weak ps3 controllers.

Every controller I buy slowly gets beat up from the analog when playing sarp. I've already wasted 3 or 4 controllers playing sarp.
So anyway I was wondering if any of you guys have the same issue?

I've never had that kind of problem. You're just pressing them too hard.

yeah dont have any problem with the analog sticks, only that they got a bit lose and can turn around now
i rather had problems with the R2 or L2 buttons of my 2 old controllers
the nib (i hope thats the right word) broke and i fixed it myself, but now L2 gets stuck randomly while playing which is quite annoying
thats why i got a new controller, which worked fine untill a few days ago
when playing with it now randomly the L1 menu comes up, i only have the issue with that controller, i tried to find out why, but it isn't me hitting it and it isn't stuck
thats even more annoying than L2 getting stuck because it fucks up your jump or shot and happens at least 5 times a game
i have heard that elmp has a similar issue but for him its the R1 menu :|

I have the beginnings of this on my current controller. Small scratches and indents into the surrounding bit at the forwardmost point. And an old controller's left analog stick stopped registering certain points, like 1 to 2 oclock on the clock face.
My last controllers triggers went floppy, so I had to hold L2 out, so that it wasn't braking me unintentionally.

i havent had any issues with analog sticks luckily, but most of mine are under a year old except the non dual shock that came with it. i had a white controller that the r2 started sticking and i had to pry it free, thought it was something i did and i didnt have the receipt so i took it apart in an attempt to fix it. the bracket around the r2 spring broke. its a tiny plastic piece about a half inch long that broke off inside. i failed at putting it back together and broke another piece... trashed it. bought my second controller(two tone green/dark green) in about a 6 month period and same thing happened only i kept my receipt because i got a game along with it and i learned my lesson from the first time. i got that last one replaced after waiting a few months because the color was out of stock, so they eventually had me pick another color(went with white again). *knock on wood* i havent had any pieces break recently. in that few month wait for the replacement controller i bought another controller(urban camo 8-) ) to hold me over instead of my non dual shock and that one hasnt broken yet either. im hoping it was just a defective piece or something in a batch

Jesus Christ. They look really sticky as well... Anyways are those the sixaxis or dualshock controllers? The sixaxis ones are cheap so I recommend buying the dualshock ones. Or just don't press them so hard.

ye true, R1 menu is even more annoying because you can't jump while R1 menu is opened..
but I think my problem was the frequenzy in my room
I've changed a few things in my room (using cables for bluetooth devices) and now the problem is almost solved
nowadays the R1 menu rarely pops up

well same goes for L1 you can't jump etc
but it can't be the frequancy in my room, because thats the only thing i use with bluetooth
i don't know where it suddenly came from but it makes that controller not useable for sarpbc

no i suppose they wouldnt. me and a friend though both have/had the same green one i pictured and it would randomly act like L1 was hit and if you hit r3 while pressing a direction during game play it would change the songs while playing a custom playlist as if you hit left or right on the directional. that was the only controller we had that did it, and i guess just by coincidence they were the same color. we were conspiring that they might be buggy with one of the recent updates because it didnt happen for a while then all of a sudden it was quite often. it could happen that way, we have seen some really weird bugs while testing software at work so it wouldnt surprise me. we figured it was more likely to be a coincidence though

nah, I'm pretty sure that you can jump while the L1 menu is opened. ;)
It isn't possible in the R1 menu because it's the mute menu where you are able to change settings.

Not sure if dust or grease :o also thread needs more jokes lol

I take it that you leave your controller in the open? sometimes dust may cause friction between the analog stick and the frame around it which in turn wears out both of them. It's best to cover your controller or put it somewhere where dust, doubtfully, can't reach. I bought a new controller recently which was very smooth, but now I notice a lot of friction because of dust. Not sure if it's also the case with shoulder buttons.

I really have no idea how they could have ended up in such condition. I've been using my dualshock for at least 4 years and it's like brand new. By the way, I'd advice you not to eat during playing. Your controllers look nasty. :|

I'd hate to say but i agree with Sfex here. SARPBC is actually breaking my controllers. I'm on my 3rd one and now on this one the X button gets jammed now n then ruining my double jumps, also its lost its sensitivity and doesnt react as soon as i press it sometimes which ruins alot of my shots, maybe thats why i tend to dribble abit more. my last controllers broke through the analogue stick and now my current one feels less reactive too
