Question to the devs

Postby velocirocktor on Wed Sep 13, 2017 9:08 pm

Hi Psyonix!

Long time player, new poster here.

I'm working on a game with some friends and know that you guys used UE3 and Wwise, etc, tools that me and my team are familiar working within and whatnot.

We're not trying to make a profit or anything, in fact, we're making it for a school project, but we're trying to make a multiplayer shooter in UE4. We have a rough unreal prototype up where most of the networking is P2P and handled in blueprints right now. At some point, there has been talk about moving them into C++.

At any rate, I was wondering how you guys handled this particular hurdle? Is your network being handled in blueprints or something else?

Any response would be greatly appreciated. I'm reaching out for advice from one of my favorite games that handles this challenge really well.

Thank you for your time!

Hey there,
Rocket League was not built on Blueprints as that is not a feature in UE3.
While there is Kismet, raw code has been the foundation for Rocket League since the beginning.
Sorry that we can't be of much help and good luck!
