Thanks / Like Button

Postby NY11725 on Thu Feb 27, 2014 10:14 am

Was just curious if you guys ever plan to add a Thanks button, or a like button to the forum so members can like posts, or thank someone for their post. I know a lot of forums are doing this now, it isn't really needed per say, just a cool feature to have. Not a dislike button, just either a like button to where members can chose to like a post or not, and / or a thanks button for members to thank a post that they deemed helpful to them.

Thanks!

A like button will not balance out your negative rep NY, you're there to stay.

Well, a like button would benefit older members a lot more obviously, because they have more time to accumulate likes. The rep system makes it easier for new players and members in general to gain the recognition they sometimes deserve, as well as reflect if someone is being a tool, in which case they would have a negative rep. In general though the reps that I see pretty accurately reflect how well a person is liked in the community. People who are very well liked, such as fysho and woody have very high reps, and people who are generally disliked have low reps (not you of course  ). I would however lengthen the time interval between giving rep, so it can't be spammed down by just a few people who don't like you.

Get rid of it all. What's the point of it.

General consensus:

People with low rep - Get rid of rep
People without low rep - It's fine how it is
Devs/Moderators - Meh
Any fool can criticize, condemn and complain and most fools do. - Benjamin Franklin

i've had the lowest rep here, and it goes up and down daily.

Whats the point of it? does it make me less helpful than people with high rep? more liked?

a "thanks" button is more effective, and even that is a waste of time.
if it stays or goes, it makes very little difference really.
